LOT078 – Jack St. Clair Kilby (November 8, 1923 – June 20, 2005) signed card. Hewas an American electrical engineer who took part (along with Robert Noyce) in the realization of the first integrated circuit while working at Texas Instruments (TI) in 1958. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics on December 10, 2000. To congratulate him, US President Bill Clinton wrote, “You can take pride in the knowledge that your work will help to improve lives for generations to come.” He is also the inventor of the handheld calculator and the thermal printer, for which he has patents. LOT099a – Edward White Jnr signed and dedicated 10 x 8 colour photo. Exceptionally rare. American engineer, U.S. Air Force officer, and NASA astronaut. On June 3, 1965, he became the first American to “walk” in space. White died along with his fellow astronauts Virgil “Gus” Grissom and Roger B. Chaffee during prelaunch testing for the first manned Apollo mission at Cape Canaveral. He was awarded the NASA Distinguished Service Medal for his flight in Gemini 4 and then awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor posthumously.
