Find out what you can do if your luggage has been misplaced during your holiday.
If you have travel insurance, this is the time to use it. Report the loss straight away at the airport to an agent or representative of your airline. They must write up a Property Irregularity Report (PIR), and give you a copy.
Next, you have to write to the airline to make a claim for compensation.
The airline can take up to six weeks to accept the luggage is lost.
Check with the Civil Aviation Authority website to see how much compensation you can expect from the airline; international regulations stipulate an upper financial limit per piece (of around £850).
